My experience on the IRW Graduate Scheme has been a very intense learning process and highly rewarding. Working within the Asia team in the International Programmes Division I have been directly involved in Country Office operations across the region. My task has been primarily project development to ensure we are delivering needs-driven, cost effective programmes. I have also had the opportunity to travel to the field in Nepal and Malaysia, with a longer experience in Myanmar.

As an aspiring humanitarian, I was delighted to secure a position within the Islamic Relief’s Graduate Scheme. This enabled me to develop professionally in humanitarian and development programming, whilst allowing me to leverage my passion and commitment to fight poverty and reduce inequality. Through providing me with professional training, as well as a four-month secondment in IR’s Sudan Office, this experience provided me with a strong platform to progress onto my current role as a Regional Desk Officer (Trainee) within the MENA & EE desk.

After graduating from university I was looking for a way to elevate my skillset and for an opportunity for some hands-on experience in the sector. Thats when I came across HADs graduate scheme, which I applied for and succeeded. Throughout the duration of my experience here I was constantly learning new things and tackling new tasks that helped me both expand my skillset but also understand the sector better and the work that goes into it.
