Damien Faget

Sustainable Development Goals; Human Development & Poverty; Climate Change & Food Security.

Damien is an international development practitioner dedicated to creating sustainable, integrated and ethical change in underprivileged countries. He has a particular interest in sustainable development theories and practices, climate change adaption and natural resources management. His educational background is multi and interdisciplinary which has equipped him with expert knowledge in social and natural sciences.

Through a University Technology Diploma in Hygiene, Safety & Environment and a Bachelor of Science in Fire Safety (Engineering), he has gained knowledge and developed practical skills in science and technology and specialised in risk management, the protection of people, property and the environment. His former educational background and work experience did not fully satisfy his desire for safeguarding people.

Consequently, he became interested in the humanitarian sector and studied an MSc in International Development and eventually joined Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) as Regional Desk Officer for the West Africa region. Damien recently completed a Master Research’s degree in Sustainable Development at the University of St. Andrews.
