Award-winning capacity building training for humanitarian professionals
Our Story
Strengthening the humanitarian and
international development sector worldwide
Initially established in 2013 as the leadership and development arm of Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW), the Humanitarian Academy for Development (HAD) is now a centre of global excellence, serving the leadership, research and talent development needs of the international development and humanitarian sector.
Through innovative training, cutting-edge applied research and leadership development, we build the capacity of practitioners and professionals in NGOs, relief and development aid agencies. HAD equips its clients with the necessary tools and training to continue providing life-saving professional assistance in the humanitarian and development sector.
We help organisations become stronger by strengthening leadership, governance and financial management to maximise frontline effectiveness, thereby aiding their transformation into more robust and sustainable organisations. Post-training, our clients are then able to withstand various internal and external challenges prevalent within the sector.
We are the first ever humanitarian organisation to gain the Princess Royal training award.
